Getting to Know you...

Janet serves as the Agency Director for Beacon Family Mental Health; she is an experienced and caring clinician. She has previously worked for LDS Family Services, Child and Family Services, Valley Mental Health and has had her own private practice. Janet specializes in areas such as Depression, Anxiety, Addictive Behaviors (Sexual Addiction, Drug Addiction Aftercare), Relational Counseling (marital, pre-marital, parent/teen, family, and divorce), Same Gender Attraction, Bereavement, Post-Traumatic Stress (Sexual Abuse, Combat PTSD, etc.), Anger Management and Crisis Intervention. Janet is also experienced in Therapeutic Group Facilitation. Janet is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Janet has a Masters Degree in Social Work where she maintained a 3.95 G.P.A.; Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and Human & Family Development; all three degrees have been obtained from the University of Utah. Janet had the opportunity of working as a research assistant on various clinical research projects at the U of U. She has extensive training in Domestic, Therapeutic Mediation, and she is certified in Domestic Violence Mediation. Janet has had the opportunity of being involved in a great deal of volunteerism in the community. She has served in various leadership positions for the LDS Church, as Relief Society President, Young Women’s President and has also served in other RS, YW’s and Primary Presidencies. For 19 years, Janet owned a successful business where she served many families in the community. Assisting others in developing their talents and building individual self esteem has always been a major theme of Janet’s work throughout her life.

Janet and her great husband Doug, have five incredible children and some amazing grandchildren whom they love spending time with. Janet enjoys skiing, dancing, singing, playing the piano, the symphony, traveling and cultural diversity, the outdoors, sports, speaking and presenting on a variety of topics.
